The Yeti

Maybe it is because I watch the news too often or maybe because I care too much, but the only thing on my mind today is about what happened in France this weekend. My heart aches for everyone who was affected by the bombings. My thoughts and prayers are with the leaders of the countries (France and their allies) as they continue to find/fight for justice. I have thought a lot about how and if terrorism will ever stop. To be honest, I don't think it will ever stop. There will always be unstable people in the world. These radicals are no different from child molesters, rapists, stalkers, and murders. I don't fully comprehend how, but accepting this has brought me peace. Despite the fact that we live in a world where there will be evil, there will always be ways to spread a little bit of shimmer. I hope that one day things will change, but until that time #prayforparis.

Now that I have addressed what has been on my mind, I think we should get to the fashion part of the blog! The statement part of the outfit is the "Yeti." My mom and I have always called white coats or vests a yeti because they look like the Yeti on the Matterhorn at Disneyland!

All things Kate

I have an obsession with Kate Spade. It is to the point that if I am having a hard day or something similar to that Juan will have me pick something on my Kate Spade wish list and then when we have the chance to visit my family we will go get those items. It always makes everything better haha!

We have nicknames for almost everyone of my Kate Spade items. (Juan was actually the one who started it to help keep things straight.) You will notice that almost all of my bags are Kate Spade. I am a firm believer that you can never go wrong with Kate.

Today I am wearing a lovely Kate Spade shift dress, watch and purse. This purse gained the nickname of Baby Kate. Find similar here>>> katespade.com

These fabulous shoes are Chinese Laundry through Nordstrom. Find similar here >>>chineselaundry.com/ or shop.nordstrom.com

Sweater Weather!

Juan and I have been terrible at getting into the Halloween spirit. We figure we still have another week to get it all done. Life has been super busy for the both of us with work, school, and cosmetology school along with Miss Provo events; but we are enjoying the opportunities we have to further our education though all of these avenues.

I have also been slacking on the blog because of all of these things too. Even though our lives our busy right now we are enjoying every second of it and wouldn't want it any other way. Life is meant to be lived and we are having every opportunity to do so!

I am sure most of your lives are just as busy and it's hard to find time to shop and look/feel good. I have found that during my busy schedule I love taking some time online to find the best deals. I found this super fun sweater dress that you can dress up or make casual for under $15! I found my shoes at Nordstrom, but they have since sold out. However, I found some that are similar on sale!

Fall is in the Air

Since the leaves are changing and the nights are getting colder I wanted to share one last summer look that  can still be transitioned into fall! I was able to find this dress and shirt each under $15!

Take a look at shein.com for some great deals. My advice is to make sure to read the sizing guides.

The Sunshine State

We have been vacationing in Florida visiting Juan's family for the last few days. I posted a picture of us at the beach and my phone has been blowing up since asking me where I got my suit! I was going to wait to post this until after we got home but I figured I would set aside some time to write a quick post on the swimsuit.

I am super picky about swimwear. I'm not a fan of wearing the typical beach attire so I always love finding unique swimsuits. I found this cute suit on Romwe.com. You can find it on their site for under 15 dollars!! What a steal. I know it can be scary wearing a white suit into the pool but let me tell you I tested it and it passed! Love it!!

About Me!

I have written many drafts this week. I think I have finally decided what I want my first blog post to be about. I am warning you now that you might be a little disappointed. I don’t want my first post to be about my stalker or my previous difficult relationship. Don’t worry, the posts about my past experiences will make their debut.

I am a free spirit. I love being outdoors. When I am outside there is something that comes over me, a rejuvenating feeling that makes me feel like life is absolutely perfect. I have been dancing since I was 18 months old and I have a deep connection with the music when I am able to dance. Aside from my first recital, when my nerves got the best of me and I peed on stage. I have played the violin for over 10 years, but it still presents the constant challenge to get better every day.

I also have the best boyfriend! He is so supportive of everything I do. He treats me like a princess. Some of the small things he does for me are: opening the car door, getting in and out of the vehicle or any door for that matter, he buys me anything I want (I try not to abuse this one), makes me dinner, drives me everywhere, and always talks to me. I could go on and on about him, but I don’t want to make you single ladies sick and you married/dating women jealous haha!

The real reason I am starting a blog is because I have wanted to start a fashion blog for so long now. I am always asked where I get my clothes from. I want to have a blog that shows where to get inexpensive clothes so you can look good on a college budget. Recently, I have also been asked how a person can get in the best shape possible. I have a love for fitness and I look forward to sharing fun fitness tips.

Why the name A Little Bit of Shimmer? I have learned a lot through my hard times. No matter how hard they have gotten, I have always had “a little bit of shimmer” shining down on me to guide me to bigger and better things. I know my story will have an impact on someone, so I am writing for you. I hope it will help others come forward and share their stories. I am anxiously waiting for the best time to share my story, so until then I hope you enjoy getting to know me a little better.
